*When pain is greater than shame*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked."* (Mark 14:51-52 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
The brief yet poignant account in Mark 14:51-52 provides a striking illustration of the human response to pain and shame. The young man, clad only in a linen cloth, followed Jesus as He was being led away by the authorities. When the young men attempted to seize him, he chose to flee, leaving behind his linen cloth and exposing himself to the elements. This dramatic scene highlights the instinctual prioritization of physical safety over social dignity.
In this moment, the power of pain proved greater than the power of shame. Faced with the prospect of physical harm or capture, the young man instinctively chose to protect himself, even if it meant surrendering his modesty. This primal response underscores the fundamental human drive for self-preservation. When confronted with the threat of pain or harm, our instinctual response often overrides concerns about social norms, dignity, or reputation. The young man's decision to flee, despite the risk of embarrassment, demonstrates the primal power of pain to override even the strongest social inhibitions.
This episode invites us to reflect on our own responses to pain and shame. How do we prioritize our physical and emotional well-being when faced with situations that threaten our dignity or social standing? The young man's decision to flee, though seemingly impulsive, reveals a deeper truth about human nature. When the stakes are high, our instinctual responses often take precedence over social considerations.
_MEDITATION:_
*This poignant scene encourages us to acknowledge the complex interplay between pain, shame, and self-preservation, and to cultivate a deeper understanding of our own responses to these fundamental human experiences.*

*The loneliness of leadership*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And they all forsook him, and fled."* (John 14:50 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
Mark 14:50 records a poignant moment in the life of Jesus Christ, where "they all forsook him, and fled." This verse highlights the stark reality of leadership, particularly in times of crisis. Despite having spent years with His disciples, teaching and guiding them, Jesus was ultimately left to face His greatest challenge alone. This moment of abandonment serves as a powerful reminder that leadership can be a profoundly lonely experience.
The loneliness of leadership is a paradoxical phenomenon. On one hand, leaders are often surrounded by people, advisors, and supporters. Yet, when the stakes are high and the pressure mounts, leaders are frequently left to make difficult decisions and face challenges by themselves. This was certainly the case for Jesus, who, despite being the Son of God, was not immune to the pain of loneliness. His experience serves as a reminder that even the most powerful and influential leaders can feel isolated and alone.
The loneliness of leadership can be a transformative experience, however. It can prompt leaders to dig deeper, to rely on their inner strength, and to seek guidance from a higher power. For Jesus, this moment of loneliness ultimately led to His greatest triumph – the redemption of humanity.
_MEDITATION:_
*As leaders, we can learn from Jesus' example, recognizing that the loneliness of leadership is not a sign of weakness, but rather an opportunity for growth, self-reflection, and divine guidance.*

*To Love God*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence."* (John 14:31 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
In John 14:31, Jesus reveals the motivation behind His actions, saying, "But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do." These words demonstrate Jesus' unwavering commitment to His Father's will. He is driven by a deep love and desire to obey, even in the face of immense challenges and suffering. As Jesus prepares to face the cross, He reaffirms His devotion to the Father's plan.
Jesus' statement also highlights the importance of obedience in demonstrating love. He shows us that true love is not just a feeling, but a choice that leads to action. By obeying the Father's commandments, Jesus illustrates the depth of His love and commitment. This challenges us to examine our own relationship with God. Do we demonstrate our love for Him through obedience, or do we prioritize our own desires and interests? Jesus' example encourages us to surrender our will to God's, even when it's difficult.
As Jesus concludes His statement with the words, "Arise, let us go hence," He demonstrates His willingness to take the next step in obedience, even if it leads to suffering. He invites His disciples to join Him on this journey, just as He invites us to follow Him today.
_MEDITATION:_
*May we, like Jesus, be motivated by a deep love for the Father and a desire to obey His commandments, even when the path ahead is uncertain or challenging.*

*Doing Over Knowing*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them."* (John 13:17 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
As Jesus washed the feet of His disciples, He imparted a profound lesson on humility and servitude. In John 13:17, He emphasizes the importance of not only knowing God's will but also obeying it. It's one thing to have head knowledge, but it's quite another to put that knowledge into practice. Jesus' words serve as a gentle reminder that true happiness and fulfillment come from living out our faith.
Knowing God's Word is essential, but it's only the first step. The true test of our faith lies in our willingness to obey and apply what we've learned. When we put God's principles into practice, we experience the joy and peace that come from living in harmony with His will. Jesus' promise is clear: "Happy are ye if ye do them." The happiness He speaks of isn't fleeting or circumstantial; it's a deep-seated joy that comes from knowing we're living as God intended.
So, let us not be content with simply knowing God's Word. Let us strive to live it out, even when it's difficult or uncomfortable. As we obey God's commands and follow Jesus' example, we'll experience the happiness and fulfillment that come from living a life surrendered to Him.
_MEDITATION:_
*May we take Jesus' words to heart and seek to not only know His will but also to do it, that we might experience the joy and peace that come from living for Him.*

*OLD PRINCIPLES FOR NEW ACHIEVEMENTS* (4)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."* (Romans 12:2 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
The God Factor or The God First Principle:
God!
Life began with God.
And life must therefore be lived with God as a beginning & guiding factor throughout life.
No one can live life "successfully" without the one who made life in the first place.
Hence, the God factor or the God First Principle is the mindset that God must be Lord over all we do- it means we don't just do things; we do things that please God and we do things in ways that God is pleased with.
It also means we don't do anything that God does not approve of or do anything in ways that is not approved by God.
When we truly put God first, we don't let self rule our lives and we don't let others influence us contrary to the word and ways of God.
It also means we seek to find what is acceptable to God, and excellent before God. Once we find those things, we strive to live by them.
_MEDITATION:_
*Hebrews 11:6 But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.*

*OLD PRINCIPLES FOR NEW ACHIEVEMENTS* (3)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"For the time being no discipline brings joy, but seems grievous and painful; but afterwards it yields a peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it [a harvest of fruit which consists in righteousness--in conformity to God's will in purpose, thought, and action, resulting in right living and right standing with God]."* (Hebrews 12:11 (Amplified))
_Bible Insight_
The power of discipline:
Anyone who must achieve anything of worth, thrives in self discipline.
This is the second principle I shared with a dear brother who will be getting set to return to the boarding school.
Without discipline, we will be slaves to what we feel like doing instead of what we need to be doing.
Discipline is one of the principles that separates underachievers from high achievers.
Show me anyone who achieves a lot, and I will show you someone who practices discipline a lot.
Those who are disciplined, have the following traits-- 1. Consistency; 2. Time management; 3. Self- control; & 4. Healthy habits. Among others.

*OLD PRINCIPLES FOR NEW ACHIEVEMENTS* (2)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"AND YE SHALL EAT OLD STORE, AND BRING FORTH THE OLD BECAUSE OF THE NEW."* (Leviticus 26: 10 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
Let's revisit a few old principles.
And I shared this one recently with a young chap:
The power of focus:
David Oluyale my good friend, said, and I quote- "If you focus on your focus, you will become a focus"
You cannot excell in life without mastering the art of focus.
Genesis 49:4 Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou [it]: he went up to my couch.
Unstable people are people who lack focus. Lack of focus leads to loss of concentration. Loss of concentration is the reason many do not achieve any set objective.
The enemies of focus include distractions, confusion (fear & anxiety), and procrastination.
Don't indulge distractions. If you must be a person of focus, please run away from distractions.
Anxiety and fear creates confusion. This is an enemy of focus. Practice calmness, faith over fear and prayer over worry (anxiety). You can tame confusion.
Focus does not abide with procrastination. When you procrastinate, you weaken the power of focus.
_MEDITATION:_
*Make a conscious decision to engage the principle of focus in order to achieve new feats.*
