*DAILY DEW 28/JULY/2025* *The Danger of Overfamiliarity* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house."* (Mark 6: 3-4) _Bible Insight_ In Mark 6:3-4, Jesus' hometown folks struggle to recognize His divine authority due to their familiarity with His earthly family and background. They see Him as "the carpenter, the son of Mary," rather than the Messiah. This passage highlights how overfamiliarity can lead to a lack of reverence and recognition of God's work. The people's reaction to Jesus demonstrates how familiarity can breed contempt. They were "offended at him," failing to see beyond their everyday interactions with Him. This incident serves as a reminder to approach God's work with humility and openness, rather than letting familiarity cloud our perception. Jesus' response, "A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house," underscores the challenge of being recognized as a vessel of God's power in familiar settings. This principle applies to our own lives, reminding us to be mindful of the tendency to overlook God's work in our midst due to familiarity. This passage encourages us to cultivate a sense of awe and reverence for God's work, even when it occurs in familiar contexts. By recognizing the potential for overfamiliarity to blind us to the divine, we can approach God's work with greater humility and openness. _MEDITATION_ *"How often we celebrate God's work in other circles other than our own very circle. We fall into the grip of overfamiliarity even before we realize it. Celebrate what God is doing in your midst."* *#DavidJoshuaEgbochuo* *#Mr_Positive_Impact* *#Daily_Wisdom_for_living* *#Becoming_More_Like_Jesus* *#The_Rise_of_An_Army* *#Daily_Dew_Devotional* *#Hello_July,2025* ❤ *Facebook Link:* https://www.facebook.com/share/1ZXrcgLmwm/ Please follow *David Joshua Egbochuo* on Facebook for more positive impact contents.
