*DAILY DEW 25/JUNE/2025* *SABBATH'S PURPOSE* _Key Bible Text:_ *"And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath."* (Mark 2: 27-28) _Bible Insight_ Jesus emphasizes that the Sabbath was created for humanity's benefit, not the other way around. This highlights God's intention for rest and worship. By declaring Himself Lord of the Sabbath, Jesus asserts His divine authority and sovereignty over all institutions, including the Sabbath. He also demonstrates to us as believers who follows in His footsteps, how we ought to relate with the Sabbath. Jesus' statement can be seen as a fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies, where figures like David acted in ways that foreshadowed Jesus' role as Lord of the Sabbath. Mark 2:25-26 Jesus answered, "Haven't you read what David did when he and his followers were hungry and in need? It was during the time of Abiathar the high priest. David went into the house of God and ate the sacred loaves of bread that only priests are allowed to eat.
