*BY THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD*

_Bible Insight_

Peter's sermon reaches its climax as he describes Jesus' exaltation to the right hand of God. This phrase, "by the right hand of God exalted," emphasizes Jesus' enthronement and His position of authority and power. Peter's audience would have understood this as a reference to Psalm 110:1, where David writes about the Messiah being seated at God's right hand.

The phrase "having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost" highlights the Father's role in sending the Holy Spirit. Jesus, now exalted, has received this promise from the Father and has poured out the Holy Spirit upon His followers. This verse underscores the Trinity's involvement in the salvation event: the Father sends the Spirit, Jesus pours out the Spirit, and the Spirit empowers believers.

The lesson from this verse is that Jesus' exaltation and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit are intimately connected. As Jesus is enthroned, He sends the Holy Spirit to empower His followers.
