*DAILY DEW 15/FEBRUARY/2025* *I AM* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *"Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way."* (John 18: 8 (KJV)) _Bible Insight_ In John 18:8, Jesus responds to the temple guards and Roman soldiers who have come to arrest Him. He reiterates His earlier statement, "I am he" (John 18:5), affirming His identity as the Messiah. By doing so, Jesus takes responsibility for His actions and acknowledges that He is the one they seek. Jesus' next statement is remarkable: "If therefore ye seek me, let these go their way" (John 18:8). He asks the guards and soldiers to release His disciples, demonstrating His concern for their well-being and safety. This request also highlights Jesus' willingness to sacrifice Himself for the sake of others, foreshadowing His ultimate sacrifice on the cross. The lesson from this verse is that Jesus prioritizes the needs of others, even in the face of adversity. He shows selfless love and concern for His disciples, asking that they be spared from harm. As followers of Jesus, we are called to emulate this selfless love and prioritize the needs of others, just as Jesus did.
