*DAILY DEW 6/FEBRUARY/2025*
*THAT THEY MAY BE ONE*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are."* (John 17: 11 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
Jesus' prayer in John 17:11 highlights His concern for His disciples' well-being and unity after His departure from the world. He asks the Father to "keep" or protect them, using the Greek word "tereo," which means to guard or watch over. Jesus recognizes that His disciples will face challenges and dangers in the world, and He seeks the Father's protection on their behalf.
Jesus also prays that His disciples may be one, just as He and the Father are one. This unity is not just a superficial harmony, but a deep and abiding fellowship that reflects the unity of the Trinity. Jesus desires that His disciples experience this same level of unity, which will enable them to stand strong against the forces of darkness and to fulfill their mission in the world.
The lesson from this verse is that unity among believers is a vital aspect of our relationship with God and our effectiveness in the world. As we seek to fulfill our mission and navigate the challenges of life, we must prioritize unity and pray for God's protection and guidance. By doing so, we can experience the same level of unity and fellowship that Jesus shares with the Father, and we can fulfill our calling as disciples of Jesus Christ.
