*DAILY DEW 4/FEBRUARY/2025*
*CONFIDENT OF VICTORY*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy."* (John 16: 20 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
Jesus' statement in John 16:33 is a conclusion to His farewell discourse, where He prepares His disciples for His departure and the challenges they will face. He emphasizes that His words are meant to bring peace to His followers, a peace that is not dependent on external circumstances, but on their relationship with Him.
Jesus acknowledges that His followers will face tribulation in the world. The term "tribulation" refers to the pressures, difficulties, and persecutions that believers will encounter as they live out their faith in a hostile world. This is a realistic assessment of the challenges that believers will face.
Despite the inevitability of tribulation, Jesus encourages His followers to "be of good cheer." This phrase is often translated as "take heart" or "be courageous." Jesus is urging His followers to remain confident and hopeful, even in the face of adversity.
The basis for this confidence is Jesus' declaration that He has "overcome the world." This statement is a testament to Jesus' victory over sin, death, and the forces of evil.
_MEDITATION:_
*As believers, we can draw strength and courage from Jesus' triumph, knowing that He has already secured the ultimate victory. This realization enables us to face tribulation with hope and confidence, rather than fear and despair.*
