*DAILY DEW 15/DECEMBER/2024*
*ACTS 1:8 & ACTS 8:1* (2)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles."* (Acts 8:1 (KJV))
_Bible Insight_
In Acts 8:1, we observe the following --
1. A great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem:
The church at Jerusalem experienced a serious persecution that scattered the members of the Church. But persecution, though employed by the enemy for a purpose of destruction, became a tool of course cross correction for the early church.
2. And they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.
We saw that the persecution caused a scattering that was interestingly very in line with the way Jesus instructed them in Acts 1:8.
They had originally been instructed to touch Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and uttermost parts of the world (Acts 1:8). However, they sort of slept on that instructions, until in Acts 8:1 when the persecution broke out.
This makes one wonder if God allowed the persecution just so that they can wake up and resume the original instruction.
_MEDITATION:_
*Can God use or allow persecution to wake His church up towards obedience to the great commission and missions?*
