*DAILY DEW 19/AUGUST/2023*
*Not Salty; Not Sacrifice*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt."*
(Leviticus 2:13 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
I agree with Pastor Vlad on this:
*"Salt is a good metaphor for Christian conversation and behavior."*
🧂*"Salt improves taste; in the same way, what believers say and do should leave a “good taste†for others."*
🧂 *"Salt also preserves food; Christians should influence others for eternity with their grace-filled lives. Saints, be salty!"*
But let's connect it with scriptures. God told his people, Israel and by extension, his people today, including you and I -- *"with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt"* No offering will be accepted by God if it has no salt.
Romans 12:1 (KJV) connects the dots further: *"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye PRESENT your bodies a LIVING SACRIFICE, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."*
We do this presentation of ourselves as living sacrifices as we live a salty lifestyle-- Romans 12:2 (KJV) puts it clearly *"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."*
The salty lifestyle calls for non-conformist standards and values. We can't be salty if we conform & subscribe to the wordly principles, standards and views around us. Rather, we must put a stop to decadence and degeneration as salt does.
We must improve the taste of things around us for good and for God's glory, even as we bring eternal values to bear! As we let our *"light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."* (Matthew 5:16 (KJV))
_MEDITATION:_
*"Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men!"* Matthew 5:13 (KJV)
