*DAILY DEW 16/MAY/2023* *SETTING & ACHIEVING GOALS BY PRAYING* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *"Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish."* (Esther 4:16 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Spiritual goal setting or setting goal by praying is a level every believer should attain. However, like Elijah we should set lofty goals. Elijah asked for rain to cease. He wanted to deal with his nation's evil leaders. Later, he prayed again, and rain fell. That is some real serious goal setting. Esther did even more. An entire tribe would have been wiped out. Motivated by her uncle and mentor, Esther mobilized prayer and fasting to specifically ask for a reversal of an evil decree. What are you asking God for? What kinds of spiritual goals are you setting? If you buy cars, get jobs, build houses, and the likes, that is normal. Do all that, if you will but do so much more. Go rather for something that really emphasizes the glory and power of God. Take a spiritual exercise. Take up a spiritual goal setting task. Pray for something that really matters beyond you and keep at it until it happens. Note however, that the greatest secret of effective spiritual goal setting is consistency in the place of prayer. Become a co-labourer with Christ, who ever liveth to make intercessions for the saints. _MEDITATION:_ *Stretch your faith. Take up a spiritual goal. Enter a season of praying with focus on that issue until it is done. Once done, take up another goal.
