*DAILY DEW 13/MAY/2023* *CALLED UNTO LIBERTY* _Key Bible Text:_ *"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,To preach the acceptable year of the Lord."* (Luke 4:18-19 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ One of the missions of Jesus is *"to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised"* When you check the similar statement from Isaiah 61:1-2 is says *"to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound"* Liberty suggests being free from restrictions, not being imprisoned or enslaved, the right to act as one pleases, and anything to make one be free. In Christ, we are called to liberty, as Christ clearly declared deliverance or freedom or liberty to captives. But question is, captives of who or what? What we understand by freedom or liberty is key. Sometimes we say we are freed from the law. Sometimes we say we are free from sin. Sometimes we say we are free from Satan. Sometimes we say we are free from guilt. Sometimes we say we are free from human expectations. Truth is, all of these statements or opinions about liberty are true to a large extent if not completely. But while we revel in the privilege of our Christ bought liberty we must remember to check if there are limits or expectations that comes with this blood bought liberty. _MEDITATION:_ *Liberty was bought at a high price by Christ. Although given to us for free but not without some expectations.
