*DAILY DEW 20/SEPTEMBER/2022*
*BECOMING A PERSON OF POSITIVE IMPACT* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat."* (Genesis 3:6 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Let's take account of people who sacrificed greatness on the altar of foolishness & quick gratification.
For example, Amnon, who fell in lust with his sister (Tamar) and he listened to a friend of his...
*2 Samuel 13:1-3 (KJV) And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her. And Amnon was so vexed, that he fell sick for his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and Amnon thought it hard for him to do any thing to her. But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother: and Jonadab was a very subtil man.*
He was with some sense, until he listened to his friend Jonadab. His little sense was flung out of the window. A man's friends will make or mar him.
Recall that 2 Samuel 3:2 (KJV), say *"And unto David were sons born in Hebron: and his firstborn was Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess"* Amnon was the firstborn of King David but a combination of lust and negative influence of keeping the wrong kind of friend, made him lose his place in destiny!
One of the messages we need to be careful of is the message of (hyper)grace! Grace is an enablement to overcome sin- not a covering for sin or a license for continuity in sin.
Amnon was programmed for greatness but wasted it due to foolishness. All the pleading of Tamar fell on deaf ears. But if only he had listened, he would have been the wiser for it.
Say this with me: *"May I not waste my greatness through momentary or temporary foolishness. May God give me wisdom to value what I ought to value!"*
Esau was another classic case of temporary foolishness. He sold his birthright on the altar of hunger and love for food. (Gen 25: 30, 31, 33, 34)
*"And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom. And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright. And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?"* (Genesis 25:30-32 (KJV)
_MEDITATION:_
