*DAILY DEW 26/APRIL/2022* *The Church in Nigeria and the 'emergence' of GEN Z* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *"These people always cause trouble. Their minds are corrupt, and they have turned their backs on the truth. To them, a show of godliness is just a way to become wealthy. Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth."* (1 Timothy 6:5-6 (NLT)) _Bible Insight:_ Then came the GEN X (1965-1980), this was the generation that began to witness a deafening emphasis on material prosperity as the sign of being born again and knowing God in the mid 80s. By the late 80s, things had escalated so quickly. This is why, when you listen to anyone in any of the three generations above, you can readily hear them lamenting on how church is now worldly and is about money and fame. They were right in the middle of the beginning of that decline. Most of them haven't left the church. Why? They are very hopeful that things will change because they've witnessed some level of sanity in the church before. They know what we are doing today isn't exactly what they had. They didn't know all the truths, but they weren't as materialistic and they contended for the power of God and a need to live godly, while emphasising bible reading. They prayed a lot and read their bibles, of course with special interest in the psalms of David.
