*Faith Series: How We Win*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Now Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report.â€* (Hebrews 11:1-2 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Nothing works better in this life for the winning Christian except by Faith.
When Faith is applied, the good report is inescapable. It is just a matter of time.
Ours is a kingdom of Faith. The elders applied it and landed good reports. If we also apply Faith through our lives' story, we would end up with a good report.
The guarantee that Faith secures good report lies in the fact that it is backed by and rooted in God. It is also tested and trusted.
No matter what you are going through, remember to check your Faith tank. Without Faith, you will not live a victorious life in this world.
In all your getting, get Faith!
_MEDITATION:_
*For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our Faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?* (1 John 5:4-5 (KJV))

*We Don't Draw Back*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.â€* (Hebrews 10:38-39 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
No doubt there are those who draw back unto perdition. But what does "perdition" even mean?
*_"PERDITION - per-dish'-un (apoleia, "ruin" or "loss," physical or eternal): The word "perdition" occurs in the English Bible 8 times (Jn 17:12; Phil 1:28; 2 Thess 2:3; 1 Tim 6:9; Heb 10:39; 2 Pet 3:7; Rev 17:11,18). In each of these cases it denotes the final state of ruin and punishment which forms the opposite to salvation."_* (Source: Net Bible)
So now we know what we are dealing with. Perdition simply means lack of salvation. In other words, eternal destruction or damnation.
The goodnews is, we are not of them that draw back to perdition. We are always moving forward towards salvation. We move with God. We move towards the salvation of our souls and the souls of those within our scope of influence.
Beloved, this year, make up your mind to move closer towards your final glorious destiny in Christ Jesus- eternal salvation. Do not delay your progressive move towards growth, spiritual discipline, and search for more of Christ in your life.
We don't draw back! We move forward to the upward call of God! We move!
_MEDITATION:_
*Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.* (Philippians 3:13-14 (KJV))

*Persevere to Receive The Promise*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"For you need endurance so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise. “In a very little while, he who comes will come, and will not wait. But the righteous will live by faith. If he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.â€* (Hebrews 10:36-38 (WEB))
_Bible Insight:_
Saul sacrificed his reign over the kingdom of Israel on the altar of impatience.
There is a reason the fruit of the spirit includes "love, joy, peace, LONGSUFFERING, gentleness, goodness, faith," Galatians 5:22 (KJV)
We are not programmed to run and win the heavenly race on the platform of speed and ease. Heaven is not delivered to the hasty. Godly rewards do not answer to quick fix measures.
Whoever will walk with God must brace up for the long haul of the heavenly journey. It is not for the faint hearted and for the impatient. It is for those whose hearts are bent on getting to the end no matter how arduous and lonely.
God is NOT committed to save those who started the race. He is committed to save those who endured to the end. If you are doing anything right, don't stop. If you are not doing right, better stop, repent and turn a new leaf. Once you do, don't look back. Keep pressing to the very end.
_MEDITATION:_
*And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.* (Galatians 6:9 (KJV))

*Suffering For Christ* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"For you both had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your possessions, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and an enduring one in the heavens. Therefore don’t throw away your boldness, which has a great reward."* (Hebrews 10:34-35 (WEB))
_Bible Insight:_
In a biographical story of Frederick Douglass, there was an account of Captain John Brown a former military man turned storekeeper, who invited Frederick to his home. The striking thing about Captain Brown was that, though he was white, for several years he lived a restrained lifestyle. He wanted to lead a small group of dedicated men who would live in the Appalachian mountains, induce slaves to escape and then train them for resistance. He believed that was his contribution to the struggle against slavery and for many years sacrificed for it, preparing for a time when he could carry out his plans into reality.
He chose a restrained lifestyle so as to afford to save and amass resources for the struggle ahead. In like manner, Christians are in a spiritual struggle and like Captain Brown, whether we are missionaries or not, whether we are truly challenged or not, we need to live restrained lifestyle so we can keep our eyes on the core goals of the Kingdom of God, by helping those who suffer most for the cause of Christ.
This calls for self imposed "suffering" just like Moses who in Hebrews 11:24-26 (KJV) *"By faith,... refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward."*
Remember, *"Therefore don’t throw away your boldness, which has a great reward"*. In this heavenly race, we must be confident of the great reward ahead of us. For "if we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us" (2 Timothy 2:12 (KJV)) Besides, *"it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing."* 1 Peter 3:17 (KJV)
_MEDITATION:_
*For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.* (2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (KJV) ))

*Suffering For Christ*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Remember how it was with you in the past. In those days, after God's light had shone on you, you suffered many things, yet were not defeated by the struggle.
You were at times publicly insulted and mistreated, and at other times you were ready to join those who were being treated in this way."* (Hebrews 10: 32, 33 (GNB))
_Bible Insight:_
One of the unpopular doctrines of Christ is suffering with and for Him. This suffering does not refer to poverty or suffering for the wrong one has done. It refers to ill treatments from men and difficult or unpalatable situations that are endured because of one's desire to follow Christ or to obey His word, against popular demands.
Examples include persecution, unjust treatments by higher authorities, discrimination, disrespect, loss of opportunities due to refusal to lower scriptural standards, endurance and long suffering in the face of taunting and daunting situations that if not for the knowledge of Christ one would simply oppose or retaliate or compromise, etc.
These sort of suffering cannot be divorced from the true and consistent believers and followers of Christ.
Unfortunately, we live in a generation, as foretold by prophetic scriptures that, equate prosperity as a sufficient sign of God's seal of approval in the life of a man. As individual believers, one must also consider and pray that God raise men and women who are not given to material things, by making oneself an example in this area.
There is something that helped disciples in the Bible withstand the challenges or sufferings they faced because of their faith in Christ. It is the knowledge of their everlasting possessions and reward in heaven.
Heaven was a real tangible place that existed in their minds and held lots of inspiration for them. Heaven was both present and future for them. Present, because they enjoyed God's presence and strength, and future because this world is not a permanent abode but a temporary one.
_MEDITATION:_
*For you both had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your possessions, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and an enduring one in the heavens.* (Hebrews 10:34 (WEB))
