*DAILY DEW 15TH/AUGUST/2021* *BEING IN CONTROL OR TRUSTING GOD* _Key Bible Text:_ *Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you.* (Psalms 37:5 (NLT)) _Bible Insight:_ Over the years as I evaluate different things that I get anxious or stressed out about, there is one common thread in my response to them — a desire to be in control. It's as if playing out potential negative outcomes or imagining unsuccessful work projects puts me in the driver's seat. Nothing is going to happen without me being forewarned and prepared to face it. The problem, however, is that trust and control do not coexist. You can have control or you can have trust, but you can’t have both. This presents a challenge considering that throughout scripture, God's instruction to us is to trust Him. In fact, we often see that God's guidance does not include the final picture nor are all the details known. Scripture tells us that God desires our trust and dependence on Him along the way. Abraham was instructed to leave his country but not given a specific destination ahead of time. The people of God were told to step into the raging river prior to God parting the waters. Mary and Martha were challenged to trust when Jesus instructed the stone be removed from their dead brother’s tomb. Evaluate your heart and motives today. How much of your stressing and worrying is an attempt to be in control? Make an attempt today to put your trust in Him again. We know that you have the better blessings that belong to your salvation.* (Hebrews 6:8-9 (GNB)) _Bible Insight:_ Being productive is the proof of growth in the faith. If you fail to use the opportunities God has brought your way to work on your intentional growth and impact, you are not going to like the consequences. God doesn't waste resources. His seeds and rains are directed to ensure your growth and productivity. He may be patient with us, and correct us in love but He expects results. Today's text and others before it, speaks so much about the need of intentionally growing and bearing fruits. It also makes clear the consequences of failure to yield growth and productivity. However, the charge or instructions ends on a positive note. God believes you will make it in Christ. God believes you will succeed in Him. God expects that as long as you continue in Him, you will end the journey of your salvation well. And you will fulfill purpose. Do you believe too? *DAILY DEW 18TH/JULY/2021* *Forgiveness & Faith* _Key Bible Text:_ *Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.* (James 5:16 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ If you are trusting God for healing, asides from praying, there are three things you should do: 1. Forgive offences. Even though you can be healed even when in unforgiveness, it is a door that will open a man up to demonic attacks. And it has the potential to hinder faith. 2. Keep your focus on the Word of God, especially as pertaining to healing. Stop paying attention to your condition. Satan is an attention seeker! Faith or doubt is fed through focus. And it takes faith to possess your healing. 3. Hang around people who believe in healing. Their faith is contagious, and they carry an atmosphere for healing. You don't want to be around people who talk down on healing or the miraculous. *DAILY DEW 11TH/JUNE/2021* *LEARNED OBEDIENCE* _Key Bible Text:_ *Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered* (Hebrews 5:8 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ If Jesus 'suffered' to learn obedience, imagine how much 'suffering' we would need to undertake to unlearn disobedience and learn obedience? If the one who knew no sin, the one who was without sin, the one true God who came in human form, needed suffering to learn obedience, we really need to understand and undertake this obedience-commanding suffering. In understanding this suffering, we must refer to the context. The verse before this, stated how Jesus "offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared". This definitely points to one of the things he suffered. It is instructive to note that the trials and suffering Jesus faced, proved his obedience. Obedience is not confirmed in isolation or in a vacuum. Commands, disciplines, instructions when obeyed and submitted to, reveals obedience. Those who jeered at Jesus, called him names, tested his patience, tried to get him offended, spat on him, ridiculed him, etc were all instrumental to the sufferings of Jesus. These helped him to learn and ultimately proved his obedience to the father. Finally, the fact that He needed to set aside his own will, for the Father's as he prayed, "O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt." *DAILY DEW 4TH/JULY/2021* *Change Your Perspective* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.* (Galatians 5:1 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ A few persons in history, gave this portion of scripture or its like, a literal interpretation. They had such strong perspective of this message, that it was exceptionally inscribed in their lifestyle. One of such outstanding figures was a woman of great capacity and gift, by name Harriet Tubman (a name she picked for herself, after she escaped slavery where she was named Araminta Harriet Ross, and was nicknamed “Minty” by her parents) Harriet Tubman escaped slavery to become a leading abolitionist. She led hundreds of enslaved people to freedom along the route of the Underground Railroad. Born into slavery in Maryland, Harriet Tubman escaped to freedom in the North in 1849 to become the most famous "conductor" on the Underground Railroad. Tubman risked her life to lead hundreds of family members and other slaves from the plantation system to freedom on this elaborate secret network of safe houses. A leading abolitionist before the American Civil War, Tubman also helped the Union Army during the war, working as a spy among other roles. After the Civil War ended, Tubman dedicated her life to helping impoverished former slaves and the elderly. In honor of her life and by popular demand, in 2016, the U.S. Treasury Department announced that Tubman will replace Andrew Jackson on the center of a new $20 bill. What stands out for me, about this colored and extremely unique lady, whose exploits were well captured in the recent 2019 movie, called _Harriet_ , was her reasoning or perspective:- *"I had reasoned this out in my mind, there was one of two things I had a right to, liberty or death; if I could not have one, I would have the other"* MEDITATION: *The believer is called to live and stand in the divine liberty Christ had won for us through His death and resurrection.
