*The Demands of The Word*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."* (Hebrews 4:12 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
The word of God is a discerner. It will unmask you. It will see through to your nakedness, your motives and your hidden thoughts. The Word of God cannot be deceived. You can pretend and deceive men but not God's word. Every step you will ever think of taking will be correctly revealed by the Word, nothing you do takes God's Word by Surprise.
You have a duty therefore,to understand what God's word requires of you so that you can correctly be aligned to His Word.
1. Attention. Give attention to the word. Give time. Give dedication. Make time for the word, both personal study and group (church, sunday school, bible study, etc)
Give priority to the word. When you attend any service, be attentive to receive a word from the Lord. Become a person of the Word. That is how the Word becomes alive in you. Always attend to the Word as a matter of top priority! Joshua 1:8 (KJV) *"This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night"*
2. Repentance. The Word demands that you repent. You can't just hear the Word and enjoy it, without also repenting where needs be. Be repentance conscious whenever you are exposed to the Word. Take note of what you need to take note of and turn away from what you need to turn away from. Repentance is a serious demand of the Word. God is looking for those who tremble at His word.
Jeremiah 8:4-6 (KJV) Moreover thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; Shall they fall, and not arise? shall he turn away, and not return? Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.
*I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: NO MAN REPENTED him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle.*
3. Believe. The Word Demands that you believe Him. Don't just hear the Word and move on without ensuring you believe. Anytime you don't obey the word, that is a dimension of unbelief. The proof of belief in the Word is obedience to the Word.
_MEDITATION:_
*"Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the *same example of unbelief."* (Hebrews 4:11 (KJV))

*The Mark Of Crucified Believers*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"I have been put to death on the cross with Christ; still I am living; no longer I, but Christ is living in me; and that life which I now am living in the flesh I am living by faith, the faith of the Son of God, who in love for me, gave himself up for me."* (2 Galatians 2:20 (BBE))
_Bible Insight:_
You think the message of 'next level', 'getting bigger', 'taking over' was what led the early church to sell their possessions and share among themselves? You think so? Think again!
When you feed on these self centered messages, you'd only live for self gratification, and not for Christ. It's time to teach believers to allow God's word 'take over' from self. The epistles aren't about 'next levels', they are about growing up in Christ. -- except and unless next level of growth in Christ!
There's a 'gospel' that's centred around human selfishness that appeals to many, but it is not the gospel of Christ. The focus is OFF learning Christ and denying self in order to live for and serve Him, rather it is focused on 'using Christ' to succeed in life. Quite appealing but far from the intent of the gospel.
MANY who embrace this will have testimonies of success with no testimonies of real spiritual growth and an increasing denial of self in order to serve Christ. The lines aren't as blurry, except one is really undiscerning.
_MEDITATION:_
*There is no greater success for the crucified believer except and until there is the success of Christ's life growing and taking over the old man completely* -- E.D.J.

*RECEIVING THE TEACHINGS OF YOUR PASTOR* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us!"* (2 Timothy 1:13-14)
_Bible Insight:_
The teachings and instructions coming from the pulpit of your local Church are sacred. They are to be received, treated and handled as such.
They're the words of God and should be regarded as such. Anything less than this will remove the efficacy of it in our lives.Â
The Apostle instructed Timothy to regard the words he spoke to him as sacred.Â
Timothy was told by his Pastor (Paul) that all the words he heard from him must be received and held on to. He was to take deliberate steps to keep what he received.Â
These words are slippery and can slip away after we have received them. So just receiving is not enough. Purposeful actions must be taken to keep what was received.Â
If these words are mere words or common words will such an instruction be given? Never trivialize what you're been taught.Â
The teachings of your Pastor are a trust committed to you. You’re to hold fast to it. Keep them by the help of the Holy Spirit.Â
It's so vital and important that you'll need the Holy Spirit to help you keep them well. You only protect treasures. If we're been told to protect the teachings of our man of God, it means those words are treasures.Â
Satan wants to steal it. You must not allow him. Hold fast to them and keep them jealously. You remember the parable of the sower in Matt 13:18-23?
The first step to holding fast these sound words is by listening attentively while teaching and instruction is going on. You can't hold fast or keep something you don't know about because you didn't hear about it.Â
The second step is to trap it by writing it down. Make good comprehensive notes in Church. You can't hold fast to something you can't lay hold of.
Then keep your notes well. Don't throw them around as though they're just Chemistry or Biology notes. The way you treat your Church notebook tells me how much you value God's word.Â
Church Is a school where we learn about Christ. Take this school seriously because it affects your eternity.
If the apostles didn't hold fast and kept the teachings of their Pastor (Jesus), we wouldn't have anything to base our faith on today.Â
The next generation will suffer if we fail to hold fast what we are receiving today (2Tim.2:2).
_MEDITATION:_
*"Paul describes the teachings of your Pastor as sound words and good things. Is that how you see your Pastor's words?"*

*Prayer Grasps Eternity* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit...Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice."* (Psalms 34:18; 51:8 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
This world hits the trail for hell with a speed that makes our fastest plane look like a
tortoise; yet alas, few of us can remember the last time we missed our bed for a night of
waiting upon God for a world-shaking revival. Our compassions are not moved.
We
mistake the scaffolding for the building. Present-day preaching, with its pale
interpretation of divine truths, causes us to mistake action for unction, commotion for creation, and rattles for revivals.
*The secret of praying is praying in secret. A sinning man will stop praying, and a
praying man will stop sinning.* We are beggared and bankrupt, but not broken, nor even bent.
Prayer is profoundly simple and simply profound. ‘‘Prayer is the simplest form of
speech that infant lips can try,’’ and yet so sublime that it outranges all speech and exhausts man’s vocabulary. A Niagara of burning words does not mean that God is
either impressed or moved. One of the most profound of Old Testament intercessors had
no language—‘‘Her lips moved, but her voice was not heard.’’ No linguist here! There
are ‘‘groanings which cannot be uttered.’’
Are we so substandard to New Testament Christianity that we know not the historical
faith of our fathers (with its implications and operations), but only the hysterical faith of
our fellows? Prayer is to the believer what capital is to the business man.
Can any deny that in the modern church setup the main cause of anxiety is money? Yet
that which tries the modern churches the most, troubled the New Testament Church the
least. Our accent is on paying, theirs was on praying. When we have paid, the place is
taken; when they had prayed, the place was shaken!
_MEDITATION:_
*"In the matter of New Testament, Spirit-inspired, hell-shaking, world-breaking prayer,
never has so much been left by so many to so few.
For this kind of prayer there is no substitute. We do it— or die!"*

*THE DEMANDS OF CONSECRATION* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"I AM CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST: NEVERTHELESS I LIVE; YET NOT I, BUT CHRIST LIVETH IN ME: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."* (Galatians 2:20 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
I sat beside this woman carrying a sick looking child in the bus and with looks of despondency and rejection, she began making a call to someone. She was pleading with the person to borrow her a certain amount of money which was half of her monthly salary to feed her family and treat her child. This was ending of last year.
The Holy Spirit prompted me to ask her what was the amount she was trying to borrow (half of her salary) and to my shock it was the very and the exact amount I had there with me.
Then the Spirit went ahead to tell me to release that very amount to her which I had planned to use it to purchase certain vitals for my home and as I did, the woman's countenance seemed like the very transitioning between night and day; it was all bright now.
It was a painful sacrifice to me but it did serve a divine purpose.
I realized that the Consecrated man no longer has the final say over his time, talent and his treasures. They are all the Lord's. The call to Consecration is the Call to death to the self life. The consecrated man releases to the Lord whatever he bids him to.
Hearing God is one thing and acting on what you heard is another thing. The consecrated man both hears and acts.
Even if he builds an empire in time, any day the Holy One of Israel says, "hand it over", that is the day he parts with that earthly possession.
*He has not only conquered greed but has also conquered attachment to the mundane. If He bids us to the plough, there we go and labour in His vineyard, If He bids us to the altar, there we go and are burnt as living Sacrifices.*
_MEDITATION:_
*"It is time beloved, It is time to Consecrate ourselves and become living Sacrifices to God alone. Before us must be one chief goal, to become THE CONSECRATED MAN or to be nothing"*
