*One son given, many sons received*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings."* (Hebrews 2:10 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Merry Christmas beloved, and happy new year in advance. May the Love of God expressed through the son of God, make you become all that God purposed to achieve through the birth of the son in a sinful world on men!
Lisa Bevere was right. She said Jesus became like us, so we can become like him! Indeed, a season like this must make us REMEMBER why Jesus came in the first place. It would amount to sheer abuse and misuse to miss the main reason for His birth into this world like a mere man! That reason is totally divine, missionary and for the salvation and transformation of the lives of men!
To remake man, and restore the lost dignity of man, God decided to come down like a man and walk the streets of men to the cross of calvary, where the job of saving men, paying the price for their sins, and giving them all it takes to become like him, was finished!
As we celebrate this Christmas season, we must consciously reflect on the reason for the season-- The Birth & Life of Jesus Christ! And as we do, we must examine ourselves to confirm if the birth of the son of God, has translated to the rebirth of our souls in the son of God!
May we enjoy the season, but even more, may we REMEMBER that the essence of the first coming of Christ was to make us become like him, so we can be better prepared to receive His second coming!
What if each time we celebrate Christmas, God desires more than ever before that we make ourselves ready for His second coming? What if each time we sing all the Christmas Carols, heaven waits in earnestness that we spread the news of His first coming and why He came, so that men will believe and be saved in readiness for His second coming?!
I am positive that God is not as excited at the past, (His birth) as He is about the future (His second coming)! Therefore, by all means let's celebrate His birth, but even more, let's prepare and anticipate His second return! For His coming into this world, was to raise men and women that will become like him, and seek His kingdom and His righteousness! Amen

*3 Ways Missionaries Interact with Local Churches* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not. Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church."*
_Bible Insight:_
The circumstances of a church’s birth will set the course of its life, and an unhealthy church can be a blight on its community and an ordeal to restore to health. Church planters have the privilege and responsibility of getting young churches started off right. Far better to raise a new church up in the way it should go than to leave a string of mistakes for later generations to correct.
What about when churches are no longer new? How should missionaries relate to churches that have already been planted and growing for a while?
_2. Missionaries Partner_
There are certainly many parts of the globe without a single gathering of local believers, but wherever there are healthy congregations within physical reach, missionaries must partner with them. After all, they cannot bypass the church in order to plant the church! Whenever possible and beneficial for reaching the unreached, missionaries must collaborate with existing churches.
Tragically, some churches are decidedly unhealthy, and missionaries must work around those congregations. But writing off a church as “unhealthy†should never be taken lightly. And it should never be upon the basis of nonessentials like instruments in worship or order of service.
An unhealthy church is one which is willfully disobedient. It not only falls short of the biblical directives for church life, but it also exhibits no desire to repent and change. And a missionary who decides, after much prayer and seeking of wise counsel, to refuse partnership with an unhealthy church must do so with a posture of grace and a resolution to continue praying for their repentance.

*3 Ways Missionaries Interact with Local Churches* (I)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus: Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles. Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Salute my wellbeloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ."* (Romans 16:3-5 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Missionaries have a difficult relationship with the local churches around them on the field. In the mythology of missions, the missionary has risen above such paltry things as potlucks and committee meetings. They’ve “graduated†from church. And what’s more, by the very nature of their occupation, missionaries often must live and work in places where a local body of believers is practically impossible to come by.
In reality, missionaries and local churches need each other. The exact parameters of the relationship between the two may change or be otherwise dependent on circumstance.
1. Missionaries Plant:-
The missionary’s first and most obvious responsibility to local churches is to facilitate their planting. Therefore, a missionary must know what a healthy church looks like, for how can he replicate what he’s never seen? Scripture leaves ample room for local expression and glorious diversity between congregations, but we can’t compromise on the theological essentials of the church. This is Christ’s body, not ours. We have no right to take liberties with the bride of Christ.
Although no church is perfect in these matters, a healthy church will nevertheless adopt a posture of obedience to Scripture, striving for God’s ideal and trusting him to bless their obedience.
Conversely, as important as it is not deviate from biblical direction in church planting, missionaries must be equally careful not to confuse essentials with nonessentials. A healthy church can’t function without biblical preaching, but that preaching can be done on a rooftop or under a tree. Biblical leadership is indispensable, but that leadership can be paid, unpaid, or bivocational. The standard set by Scripture is high enough without stacking it with trivialities. Missionaries must know which issues to hold with tight fists and which to hold with open hands, and they must be careful never to let nonessential matters cause unnecessary division or enmity.

*REDISCOVERING THE HABIT OF DAILY PERSONAL QUIET TIME* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed."* (Mark 1:35 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Prayerlessness and not reading your Bible daily (The Twin Discipline For Spiritual Progress) should be treated with the same importance and urgency.
Jesus said people err (get it wrong) because;
1. They DONT KNOW the scriptures.
2. They DONT KNOW the power of God.
(AMPC) Matthew 22:29:
"²⹠But Jesus replied to them, You are wrong because you know neither the Scriptures nor God’s power."
You need to become thoroughly acquainted with the will of God, which is the word of God as captured in scriptures, and the Holy Spirit who is the power of God.
Knowing the scriptures will help you pray better, and praying better will help you work God's power, and understand scriptures better.
Many people excuse their neglect with being too busy as in work and family demands, and traffic stress for those that live in congested urban places like Lagos. *Spiritual disciplines are not for lazy and idle people.* Looking back, I actually read much more and prayed much more when I had a 16 hours a day job. The lack of time made me consecrate to pray without fail, deleted entertainment and things not so important. I never prayed less than two hours and read for a minimum of one hour.
*The key for busy believers maintaining and developing their prayer lives and reading habit is to redeem the time!*
Do not allow anything bring about neglect of your daily spiritual disciplines, or else you become used to not praying and reading at all, dig in and set apart time away from your work time to pray and read, as in read, not that reading of one, two, three or four chapters daily, and thinking God understands, the issue is the ignorance and lack that prayerlessness generates, not God understanding!
Daniel was a Prime Minister that prayed three times daily! *Your spiritual disciplines must be built around purpose, commitment and consecration, not idleness, and zero demand for your time.* Even if you are not as busy, and have all the time, you must build your disciplines like someone who has no time, and have very stringent demand on your time.
_MEDITATION:_
*"Prosecute your praying and reading like a person that has to leave for work 6am and return late owing to traffic, don't allow your downtime become what you use for these strategic disciplines, otherwise when you get that job, get married, get admitted to study and life take it's normal toll, you will find it impossible to pray and read completely."*

*Practical Hints For Evangelism & Missions* (V)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;"* (2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Proper knowledge about evangelism and missions will arm you with the needed directions and skills for the task! Lack of knowledge or ignorance is what puts many believers off, and make them lose interest in missions and evangelism. Keep reflecting on these as we discuss more on practical hints to missions and evangelism.
_6. Strive to back your words with action._
Live the word. Challenge yourself to consistently live the word. Nothing empowers like obedience to God's word! When you consider going out for evangelism & missions, you will feel strengthened if your life is already being aligned & alive to God's word! But if you are not living in obedience, the devil will cast doubt in you & steal your confidence; you will lose motivation & interest!
If you are consistently lacking interest and motivation in missions and evangelism, take it as a strong reminder to go back to repentance and begin to live in obedience! Ephesians 4:17- 24
_7. Don't attack the symptoms. Attack the root cause._
This is spiritual warfare don't fight in the flesh nor be defeated by flesh. So never get carried away. Remain convinced that the person we should be angry at is the devil and not his captives who are but victims. (2 Cor. 10:4-5)
This understanding is key. Some persons you meet may be annoying. Some will laugh and make jest of you. Some may reject you or refuse you audience. Some may engage you but tempt you to argument and anger. Beware. And don't attack the symptoms!
_MEDITATION:_
*"That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness."* (Ephesians 4:22-24 (KJV))
