*DAILY DEW 19/SEPTEMBER/2023* *Dare To Be A Person Of Integrity* (IV) _Key Bible Text:_ *"They despise those whom God rejects, but honor those who obey the LORD. They always do what they promise, no matter how much it may cost."* (Psalms 15:4 (GNB)) _Bible Insight:_ 3. Doing what you promise, no matter what it may cost! How do you treat your promises? Do you treat them as mere words that you can turn and twist at your convenience? Do you say one thing at one time and later turn around to deny what you have said you will do? Lack of integrity is the root cause of people changing their minds about promises they have made without care. When we have decided to dwell in the light of God, and wade off the darkness around, we would be slower to make promises and when we do, we would be quicker to fulfil such promise and never back off even if it costs us. We have become like politicians in our little corners and “world”, making sweet promises and not keeping them. We need to shine our light in this area as well. So many young men are promising marriage only to deceive sisters and, thereafter, running away after eating a part of the forbidden cherry. They want to enjoy the benefit of delivery before they make payment even when deep down, they have no intention of keeping the package or paying for same. *DAILY DEW 18/SEPTEMBER/2023* *Dare To Be A Person Of Integrity* (III) _Key Bible Text:_ *"Don't hurt your friend, don't blame your neighbor."* (Psalms 15:3 (The Message)) _Bible Insight:_ 2. Doing no wrong to your friend & spreading no rumour about your neighbours. Integrity demands that you do to others what you would love them to do to you. Integrity demands that you treat others how you will have them treat you. When you treat others wrongly, it shows that you do not walk in integrity because you will preach against people treating others wrongly and yet you are doing so yourself. I read a headline recently and it was:- "Osinbajo Preaches Righteousness But Refuses To Condemn DSS' Continued Detention Of Sowore." When I took a closer look, the opening thoughts of the article were:- "Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says integrity and forthrightness are hallmarks of genuine Christians but he has refused to condemn the continued illegal detention of pro-democracy activist, Omoyele Sowore, by the Department of State Services. He also failed to berate the DSS for refusing to obey court orders granting Sowore's release." If you are conversant with the case of Sowore's arrest along with one of his followers, named Mandate, you will see where the writer of that article is coming from. You can see that doing no wrong to one's friend or even enemy is definitely a challenge of integrity. This link between treating others right and standing up for others rather than doing them wrong or watch wrong being meted out to them, when you are supposed to have some level of influence to make it right or at least condemn the act, is equally a matter of integrity. Likewise, spreading rumours about your neighbours is also doing wrong to such neighbours and, therefore, is an indication of a lack of integrity. We must do well to seriously review our conducts in the light of this challenge for integrity if we must sincerely walk in the light and fight off darkness. _MEDITATION:_ *"Lack of integrity is the root cause of people changing their minds about promises they have made without care. *DAILY DEW 17/SEPTEMBER/2023* *Dare To Be A Person Of Integrity* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *"GOD, who gets invited to dinner at your place? How do we get on your guest list? "Walk straight, act right, tell the truth."* (Psalms 15:1-2 (The Message)) _Bible Insight:_ 1. Doing what is right and speaking words that are true and sincere. Anytime you fail to do what is right, it is a matter of integrity. Speaking words you know is not true nor sincere is a sign of a deficiency of integrity. This is very serious and it is a challenge we all must accept if we are serious about dwelling and walking before the God of light in whom there is no shadow of turning or any iota of darkness. How dare we claim to be sons of God, but follow the example of the children or disciples of the devil, the father of liars and all lies?! The devil is always the mastermind of lies. Any lie at all, cannot be white or black. There is never a good lie. Lying is the trademark of the devil. You see this when Peter rebuked Ananias. He identified Satan as the master who filled Ananias with lies. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? – Acts 5:3 (KJV) Anything the devil is involved in will definitely have lies or deceit in it. The devil can transform into an angel of light just to deceive. Anytime you are in a lie or being deceived or deceiving, you are walking in darkness to that extent. _MEDITATION:_ *"Little wonder Jesus said we must be sure that the light in us is not darkness. *DAILY DEW 16/SEPTEMBER/2023* *Dare To Be A Person Of Integrity* _Key Bible Text:_ *"He going in integrity shall go confidently: and he perverting his ways shall be known."* (Proverbs 10:9 (SLT)) _Bible Insight:_ Integrity is fast becoming a rare commodity. There used to be a time when the church was well known for honesty and integrity. We cannot afford to join the rest of the world in the loss of identity. Integrity is our identity but this is fast becoming a thing of the past. This is one area you and I must rise and shine the light again in the midst of the darkness. The other day, I was given a job to do by one of my clients. It involves a company change of name. It was my first time. So when I started the process, I had to subcontract to another person to help me finish up. This became necessary because the law firm I worked with then did not allow me enough time to run around for my own side briefs. Since I was still in full employment in a law firm and I felt I wouldn't have all the time to give the job the concentration it deserved, I subcontracted it. After about a year, the person couldn't make much progress. Not happy about that, I collected the job and continued to do it myself. I met another man who claimed to be so good at it. He boasted that he could handle it. Again, I paid him just to fast track the process, or so I thought. Once again, this second man also failed me. He was worse than the first man even. Finally, I took over the job, handled all queries and eventually got the certificate. It took me over two years to handle that challenge. There had been days I thought about returning the file and apologizing to the client that I couldn't handle it. I couldn't imagine myself doing that. I delivered the certificate and when I asked for my balance it was not paid, I just let go and preferred to preserve the relationship I had with the client. Apart from telling someone what you will do, or not do, anything else you say, such as swearing or trying hard to convince them, show that something evil is likely in the offing. God wants us to be people who are believable and reliable. This is the greatest challenge facing all who want to stand out as the light. Deceit and pretence must be banished from us. _MEDITATION:_ *"Just say 'Yes' or 'No'---anything else you say comes from the Evil One. – Jesus Christ. *DAILY DEW 15/SEPTEMBER/2023* *Light vs Darkness* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *"And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day."* (Genesis 1:3-5 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ The evidence of light is obvious; it illuminates and chases out darkness without apologizing or negotiating. The evidence of darkness is equally obvious; it covers everything with a certain discomforting presence. It is easy to recognize darkness once there is no light, you will know what darkness looks like. A lot of things are not going right in this world because a lot of people are filled with darkness. Darkness is controlling but light gives true freedom. Darkness is a spirit and light is a spirit also. The greatest battlefield remains that of the mind. The mind of an individual is the battleground where forces of light and darkness collide and clash in attacks and counter-attacks. In Genesis 1:2 (KJV), it is written that the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. God felt the darkness as He moved on the face of the waters. In order to send a counteractive force against darkness, the bible said he declared light into existence. He created it. Dear friend, observe that God created light to oppose darkness. Light is to destroy darkness. God didn't complain about darkness even though there was no time we read that darkness was created. _MEDITATION:_ *"Most times you will never be able to trace where darkness came from, but you will just see that darkness is operating. You will see the void and formlessness. This is how it is today. This is an opportunity calling you not to complain, but to be the light.
