A Jonadab or A Jonathan. (XIII)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And it came to pass, while they were in the way, that tidings came to David, saying, Absalom hath slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left."* (2 Samuel 13:30 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
These lessons needs to be studied and mastered.
6. When you are in a position of authority or leadership, as much as possible see to it that wrong conducts are not tolerated and NOT uncorrected.
Whatever is not an acceptable conduct should not only be clearly stated but be clearly reprimanded when or if it happens, no matter who is involved. This could be done privately or publicly depending on the situation. But to look away or to overlook it may be more fatal on the long run.
_MEDITATION:_
*The problem you don't fix when it is small, may swallow you when it becomes bigger.
!*
*The weakness you don't fix when you are yet "small", may swallow you when you grow/get bigger!*

A Jonadab or A Jonathan. (XII)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And the servants of Absalom did unto Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and every man gat him up upon his mule, and fled."* (2 Samuel 13:29 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
There are more lessons from the story of Jonadab.
4. Learn to be truly sorry and show it convincingly.
If Amnon had good advisers in his life, or if he had a culture of self analysis or introspection, perhaps he could have realized that he should be ashamed of himself about how he handled Tamar's innocence and goodwill.
He should have realized his wickedness and taken drastic steps to amend the situation. He should have apologized to Tamar and her brother. He should have taken her in after doing whatever is necessary if their culture permitted such, which I think is applicable as half brothers and sisters like Abraham and Sarah married.
5. His father failed to take any known steps to address the situation despite being "used" in the incident.
The King ought to have done more than just being angry. There were punishments and interventions he could have ordered. He was the one who fell for the plot in the first place and asked Tamar to go serve his brother (Amnon) who pretended to be sick..
_MEDITATION:_
*If you must pretend about anything, pretend about things that will help you do better. Pretend and make it true by eventually actually accepting what you are pretending about because it is a good thing. For instance, pretend to forgive and act like it so consistently that you actually forgive*

A Jonadab or A Jonathan. (XI)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye now when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say unto you, Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant."* (2 Samuel 13:28 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
This story is filled with a couple of lessons for all observers and learners.
1. Any friend that cannot talk you out of foolishness is not a friend to keep or one to go to when you need advice.
Amnon could and should have been warned by Jonadab against his lustful desires towards Tamar. Instead he encouraged him and even shared the plan or idea of how to achieve it.
2. Any friend that doesn't know how to point you towards correction should not be your go to man when you need to weigh important decisions or even acts you have done in the past.
After Amnon satisfied his lustful desires, he could at least have heeded the advice of Tamar. He should have tried to do whatever is right to "correct" or damage control the situation. Instead, he further agravated the whole situation by chasing Tamar away wickedly and with deep hatred towards her as though she should have been blamed for the whole incident.
Jonadab should have at that point approached Amnon to talk him out of also chasing Tamar out. But there was no record of such.
3. Be a person that ponder and reflect on your past decisions.
Don't be too self assured or self confident that you assume infalibility. Recognize that you can and do make mistakes and poor decisions. From time to time, have a session with yourself where you review your past conducts and decisions and ask yourself if you have done well or wickedly or foolishly. This is called introspection.
_MEDITATION:_
*Make a regular habit of instrospection. Self analysis is for those who will go far in life and make impact*

A Jonadab or A Jonathan. (X)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And it came to pass after two full years, that Absalom had sheepshearers in Baal-hazor, which is beside Ephraim: and Absalom invited all the king's sons."* (2 Samuel 13:23 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
The world says revenge is best served cold. The word says leave revenge to God.
Absalom used two full years to plan, nurture and execute a plan to get rid of Amnon. Amnon thought he was wise. He thought he could eat his cake and have it. But alas unkwon to him, his lustful craving, Jonadab's advice and his own wicked heart of using, abusing and dumping Tamar afterwards would eventually cut short his life.
While no one will approve of Absalom's wicked killing of Amon after 2 years, Amnon's death is a proof that we may make our choices but we can't unmake certain consequences that will follow such choices.
This story goes to further reaffirm that it is better to deal with people who will confront you with whatever they are not happy with about you, than those who nurse offence against you and will rather pretend they are not offended.
If Amnon knew how angry Absalom was with him, he would never have accepted the invite to the banquet of the kings' sons hosted by Absalom.
_MEDITATION:_
*2 Samuel 13:24, 27 (KJV) And Absalom came to the king, and said, Behold now, thy servant hath sheepshearers; let the king, I beseech thee, and his servants go with thy servant.
But Absalom pressed him, that he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him.*

A Jonadab or A Jonathan. (IX)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And Absalom her brother said unto her, Hath Amnon thy brother been with thee? but hold now thy peace, my sister: he is thy brother; regard not this thing. So Tamar remained desolate in her brother Absalom's house."* (2 Samuel 13:20 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
"Regard not this thing!", said Absalom, Tamar's brother. You would think he doesn't care or is just pacifying his sister. Meanwhile, it was all cover up as time would later reveal.
Conversely, the very next verse reported an angry king and father who we didn't read or hear of any drastic action he took either to correct or discipline Amnon:
2 Samuel 13:21 (KJV) But when king David heard of all these things, he was very wroth.
He was very angry. But we cant tell what else he did about it. Some of the things you are angry about, you need to let go of that anger. But for some others, you need to do something positive about the situation that is causing you anger.
Even though Absalom said nothing to Amnon. He developed a deep hatred for him from that day. A hatred so deep that it would later mature to something evil.
_MEDITATION:_
*2 Samuel 13:22 (KJV) And Absalom spake unto his brother Amnon neither good nor bad: for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.*
