*LIVING A YEAR IN SURRENDER*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive."*
(Genesis 50:20 (NKJV))
_Bible Insight:_
The beginning of the year is the perfect time to pause and reflect—not only to recognize all the reasons we have to be grateful, but also to heal and grow in the year ahead.
While reflecting, we may be reminded of hurt feelings. Rather than sweep those feelings under the rug or let them create bitterness, we can choose the freedom of forgiveness. And the first step toward forgiveness is surrender.
“Surrender†can be one of those words that makes people squeamish, especially when it comes to forgiveness. We tend to equate it with losing a battle—waving a white flag and allowing the enemy to overtake us. But when we surrender to God, we can view it differently.
With God, surrender means being open handed with our lives—even our hurt and pain so that God can heal us from it. He is full of love, mercy, and compassion for each of us. We don’t have to be afraid to give our pain to God because we can trust Him to be tender, and handle our hearts with care.
_MEDITATION:_
*Don’t take the offenses and hurts from last year into this new year. If there’s something you need to forgive, take a moment to pray and surrender it to God. Tell Him you need His help and that you trust Him with the results.*

*WELCOME TO MISSIONS* (VII)
_Key Bible Text:_
*My dear friends, I was doing my best to write to you about the salvation we share in common, when I felt the need of writing at once to encourage you to fight on for the faith which once and for all God has given to his people.*
(Jude 1:3 (GNB))
_Bible Insight:_
Suppose I were to gather together a little group of women, a dozen or more, and suppose I were to say to those women, “Now you are to become a Women’s Missionary Society, and your work will be the work of evangelizing the world. That is all you have to do, just evangelize the World.â€
What then would I be saying to everyone else and to all the other organizations in the church? I would be saying, “This is not the most important work of the church. It is only a side issue, just one of the many departments of church work. Let these women look after it. They can take care of the evangelization of the world; and the rest of us – those of us who are men – we will do something really worthy of our manhood.â€
No, my friends! Every man in my church is a member of the Women’s Missionary Society. And I see to it, as far as possible, that every one of the 120 members of my choir accepts his or her responsibility; that each one of my elders, managers and deacons, more than two hundred, shoulders the burden; that every usher, every Sunday School teacher and officer and every boy or girl, contributes to missions. We do not have the parents give for the children. We teach the children to give for themselves. From the time they are seven years of age, they are taught to give systematically. Then when they grow up we have no trouble with them. They have learned how to give.
Last year our Sunday School gave $211,000 to Missions. Our Elders gave $90,000 and our Choir $36,000.
This work is far too important to hand over to any one organization. It belongs to the whole church, and when everyone catches the vision and everyone does something, then our goal is reached and our budget met.

*WELCOME TO THE GOSPEL* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.*
(Romans 1:16 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
A professor in my university gave me a ride. This was 1977 when I was in University of Lagos. I was going from the college of education to the main campus where my lectures were taking place (if you are familiar with the university of Lagos). So, I waved him him down and he opened the door and I entered. He was the only one driving, and as soon as he began to move, I began to share the Gospel with him.
I gave him a tract (I always carry a tract). He collected it grudgingly and then, after I spoke for about three minutes, he said, "Wait, are you a student?" I said "Yes". He said "That's fine". I didn't know he was professor. He said, "What is the shape of the earth?" I said "The shape of the earth is elliptical". That week, that was what we were taught in my survey class and I gave him the formulae.
He said, "Hold on. When you talk about heaven, your heaven; you point up, and you told me the earth was round?" I said, "Sure sir". And he said, "On the other side of the globe, when they point upward, it's on the opposite direction to your upward." I was in trouble. He said, "Tell me, if heaven is up there, what is the geographical direction of hell? Remember, if you say it is down; that's the samw direction the people on the other side of the earth will say is up!"
I was praying, "Lord help me"; and I said, "Excuse me sir, God forbid - it will not happen to you; but if you die without Christ, the next minute you will not just know the geographical direction of hell; you will know the exact location of hell, because hell is at the end of life without Christ." The man parked the car and said, "Get out of my car."
I got to know later that he was a child of a prominent baptist pastor. He went to America and studied in the University of Alabama and he went to church with great enthusiasm. When he got to church, they didn't allow him to mix with the whites. They segregated him to the back, and he got out of church and vowed never to have anything to do with church. He said the church his father served all his life, treated him so? ...so he renounced Christianity and became an atheist. I didn't know this when I was preaching to him, that at the end of his life without Christ is the exact location of hell.
Later on, two years ago, he died; but he didn't die as an unbeliever. I was preaching for Pastor Enoch Adeboye at Redemption Camp. He saw me on the giant screen and he found a way to locate me. He said, "Bishop can you recognise me?" I said, "I know you very well." He recounted the experience of 1977, he said what I said troubled him every single day - that hell is at the end of a life without Christ, until he gave his life to Christ. He said, he was now an assistant pastor in Redeemed Christian Church of God
And I hugged him.
_MEDITATION:_

*DAILY DEW 5TH/DECEMBER/2021*
*FAITHFUL THANKSGIVING*
_Key Bible Text:_
*In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.*
(1Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
The Bible makes a big deal of thanksgiving, especially to God. God demands faithfulness in thanksgiving. Having faith enough to give thanks and giving thanks dutifully is what God deserves. He demands nothing less.
Think about God who created you. Does He feel entitled or rather would we be ingrates to not shower thanks and praises unto His name? God does not feel entitled, rather we are duty bound to pour our thanksgiving to His name.
Likewise, because generally we like to adore or be nice to those who we perceive as having been nice to us, we sometimes want to have a special reason before we thank God. What we must realize is that we can't be nicer than God. We only need to deliberately count our blessings to see how faithful and nice God has been.
We look at several daily miracles as common place: you slept, you woke up; you went out, and returned safely; you have needs and they are met one way or the other, fully or in part, and the list is endless. Indeed, God has been faithful.

*DAILY DEW 28TH/NOVEMBER/2021*
*DON'T TAKE YOUR EYES OFF*
_Key Bible Text:_
*Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.*
(Hebrews 12:2 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Listen: don't take your eyes off Jesus. In a bid to look very spiritual, some believers paint an unbiblical view of the Christian experience.
For instance, I could say, 'Nobody can harass me. Those who have tried it fainted instantly. Some of them could not move at all. I am a territorial general in the army of God.'
That would sound very impressive you know? Till you read the Bible and see that they slapped Jesus. Till you hear the same Jesus say that even His Apostles would be beaten and thrown in jail. Paul even had perils of robbers.
In fact, we are told that we could be wronged and spitefully treated. The picture we have in the Bible isn't that of a 'super human' posture that shields you from every unpleasant experience.
It's this simple reality: "We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us." (2 Corinthians 4:7). That is, God using men of like PASSIONS AND TRIALS to do extraordinary things. That Paul after being stoned and beaten, could walk into another city and minister healing to the sick, with many other mighty miracles.
Oh, the excellency of God's power!
_MEDITATION:_
*Ministers who paint an untouchable, larger-than-life picture of themselves are simply exaggerating their experiences, and that gives their hearers a false expectation of what their Christian experience ought to be.*
