*DAILY DEW 22ND/OCTOBER/2021* *Warning Against Favoritism* _Key Bible Text:_ *My brethren, show no partiality as you hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory.* (James 2:1 (RSV)) _Bible Insight:_ Showing favoritism was as much a problem back then as it is today, even in the church. We constantly judge people based on external appearances. Our culture celebrates those who are rich and famous, it reveres those with power, worships those with success and listens to educated elites. We see this even in the church. Authority and recognition are given to people with money, status, education or even holding key positions in the government or corporate world. There is nothing wrong with success in this world, but why do we show favoritism? These signs of favoritism show a deeper heart issue. It is an issue of glory. Favoritism reveals what we truly glorify in our hearts. We esteem power, sex, money and fame more than anything in this world. We are ready to exchange anything for what we glorify. We tend to compromise, around the values we hold high. He was born in a manger, a feeding trough for animals. He was poor and did not have a home. He was rejected by the religious and social elites. Jesus became unattractive so we can be made attractive through His righteousness. Jesus was rejected so we can be accepted. Jesus became poor so we can become rich in Him. When the gospel takes deep root in our hearts, it rids us of any root of favoritism in our hearts. MEDITATION: *If you really fulfil the royal law, according to the scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well. *DAILY DEW 21ST/OCTOBER/2021* *SIN NO MORE** _Key Bible Text:_ *Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.* (John.5.14 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ *We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny He has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it!* (Ephesians 2:10) This is the plan of God for each and everyone's life, according to Ephesians 2:10, but there is a state in which a man needs to be that will make the man (both gender) to accomplish this promise God has for us. It is not enough to hear or know about Jesus but have you been saved? Is your salvation genuine to the extent of leading to transformation to the likeness of God? *In Gen.1.26(KJV), And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. * Although the flesh will want to manifest its sinful desires in human life, this is why we have been recreated in Jesus as the only way, the truth and life. It not just to confess it, but has it really formed in you and transformed your mindset? There is still a tendency that sin will want to surface that is why Jesus made it clear to the man which had an infirmity for thirty-eight years after he was made whole that he should sin no more lest a worse thing come unto him. (John 5:5&14). The statement Jesus made is still directed to a lot of people today. It is possible to sin no more when you allow the Holy Spirit and the Word of God (Bible) lead you at all times and empower you to live above sin and have victory indeed. *He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.* (1John.3.8 (KJV)) Sin No More! You can do this through the help of God's spirit in you. Develop more intimacy with God, to the extent of you having the mind of Christ fully formed and activated in you. The Lord is so much interested in this. Allow Him to turn your life to a testimony of His presence indeed. *DAILY DEW 19TH/OCTOBER/2021* *NOT NATURAL* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.* (John 13:34-35 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ The love Christ laid down for us to emulate is not natural- a love that cares for the loveless and unlovable. Christ did not die for some group of nice people who wanted to do some good in the world. Actually, the reverse was the case. Christ died for a bunch of people who do nothing but some evil in this world. And in case, you're wondering, that includes you and I. It would have been probably easier to die for some bunch of jolly good fellows who wanted to do some good in the world. But how do you die for folks who did nothing but sin and careless about God? Such is the love that Christ set for us to emulate. The Love Jesus gave us is one that cares for those who do not care; one that forgives those who do not forgive; one that respects those who do not respect A love that prays for one's enemies and sincerely desires good for them. This is not a love that says, love your neighbour as you love yourself. That is a limited version of love. This love says, love your neigbour first, before loving yourself. How else did Jesus love us? *"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you..."* This love is never natural! It is supernatural! *MEDITATION* *Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. *DAILY DEW 18TH/OCTOBER/2021* *NOT NATURAL* _Key Bible Text:_ *Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].* (1 Corinthians 13:7 (AMP)) _Bible Insight:_ It is interesting that some people believe that love is natural. Many argue that love comes and is expressed naturally. Actually, nothing can be more deceitful and untrue than such empty claims without proof. If love was truly natural, nations will not be rumpled and embroiled in man made insecurities, economic destabilization and political turmoil. If love was natural, every love at first sight case would lead to lasting marriages and every high school sweetheart stories will never fade away. If love was natural, parents will not abandon their children; husbands will not desert or divorce their wives and children, or wives abandon their children and husbands. If love was natural, there would never be hatred, robberies, senseless killings, ritual killings, kidnappings, banditry, and all kinds of evil today. Love is NOT natural and never can be. In fact, the only thing that is natural is lying, hatred, stealing, cheating, and all manner of evil. That's why you find so many living in such patterns because many cannot even help it. They are naturally sinful. The Love that God demands of us is not natural. It is not fleeting nor self serving. It does not seek to achieve its own purpose but God's purposes. It does not do good to only those who are nice and lovely. It strives to do good to the unlovable and the difficult. This love is SUPERnatural. It is born of God's nature and exist by the Spirit's influence. It is not motivated by nor dependent on fickle human feelings. It doesn't come and go and is not dependent on convenience. It is actually hard work and not simply nice gestures that come by instincts. It is a determination to live daily by a code of conduct that copies the ways of God. *DAILY DEW 17TH/OCTOBER/2021* *FIGHT* _Key Bible Text:_ *For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the [Holy] Spirit, and the [desires of the] Spirit are opposed to the flesh (godless human nature); for these are antagonistic to each other [continually withstanding and in conflict with each other], so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desire to do.* (Galatians 5:17 (AMP)) _Bible Insight:_ The toughest battles I have ever fought were battles between what I knew and what I felt. I see divine truth as stated in God's word, but sometimes my feelings say something else. I see God's word says that if I believe in Jesus who died for my sin and was raised for my justification, then I have salvation by faith, without works. But I don't always feel saved. I have to learn to ignore my feelings and focus on Jesus. I see God's high standard of walking in holiness and consecration, yet I find that sometimes I have to fight my feeling so it can conform to God's standard. I see God's word tells me of my permanent victory in Christ, of my greatness in Him, but I have to force my feelings to agree in the face of staggering oppositions. I see God's word tells me the gifts of the Spirit are mine, that the sick will be healed through my hands, but I have to bring my mind into subjection to it and insist until it complies to the truth of God's word. I think this is a fight I must keep fighting and keep winning as I walk on in my Christian faith. When the feeling of sickness attacks me, the feeling of sorrow, the feeling of pain, the sense of loss or lack, and all the challenges of this life, I have to insist on God's word, inspite of how I feel. God's word alone is truth. Anything contrary is a lie. I have come to realize that my circumstances and feelings will not always automatically agree with or reflect what God's word says, so I fight to ensure it aligns to God's word. I believe this is an honourable fight for the sons of God on earth. I think we will keep engaging in this fight until we put off this body of flesh. I believe this will be the basis of our eternal reward on that day.
