*RECEIVING THE TEACHINGS OF YOUR PASTOR - (VI)*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost: So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia."* (1 Thessalonians 1:6-7
_Bible Insight:_
The Thessalonians were examples to other believers and churches. The example was that they disciplined themselves to receive the word from their Pastor.
They had good reasons not to but they refused to accept it. They persisted to keep receiving the word.
Satan is doing his best to limit how much you hear your Pastor or even stop you from receiving from him. He does this by making you come late or even absent yourself from Church.
Don't allow flimsy excuses keep you away from Church where God has designated for you to receive from your Pastor.
1 Thessalonians 2:18
[18]Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.
The devil knows what listening to a Pastor can do to you. He tried to stop Paul from going to the Thessalonians so that they wouldn't have the opportunity to hear him.
Martha was entangled with other things and failed to receive from her Pastor:
Luke 10:41
[41]And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
Your spiritual well being and growth is tied to the words of your Pastor. Don't fall to satan’s schemes to separate you from God's system of feeding your soul.
For the Galatian Christians the trap was to lure them away from listening to their Pastor to someone else that's not ideal.
There are many voices out there seeking for your ears. Give it to none but to the one God put you under.
_MEDITATION:_
*"O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?"* (Galatians 3:1)

*RECEIVING THE TEACHINGS OF YOUR PASTOR - (V)*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life."* (John 6:60,66-68)
_Bible Insight:_
These disciples (or Church members) couldn't endure receiving the teachings of their Pastor. They found a reason to leave. Are you like them?
There will always be distractions and obstacles seeking to hinder your reception of the word of God through your Pastor. It's your job to deal with the issues and receive with meekness the word of life.
Satan, perhaps more than some Christians out there know the value of the words, instructions and teachings from their Pastors.
The devil will try to build a wall between you and Your Pastor or distract you from receiving from your man of God.
Some disciples today won't leave. They remain in the Church but their ears and heart is somewhere else. Such are worse than those who left physically.
If they found a reason to leave Jesus. If they could justify leaving Jesus, then anyone who doesn't want to receive his Pastor will still find seemingly good reasons to leave.
There are folks today who are like these ones that left Jesus because of his teachings. God gave them a Pastor to feed them with the word but it's for the same reason that they'll leave the Pastor and the Church.
The response of the other disciples is noteworthy and exemplary. Peter on behalf of the others said we have come to discover that you are teaching what we need. Your instructions may be tough but it's for our own good.
You must come to this point in your walk with your Pastor. This is where you'll begin to enjoy the best from him. Those tough instructions are for your good. A good Pastor will not always pamper you.
_MEDITATION:_
*"Social media is not your Pastor or your local Church. Approach it with a pinch of salt. Relate with it cautiously. Stick to the words of your Pastor and the Lord will help you."*

*DAILY DEW 5/MARCH/2023*
*RECEIVING THE TEACHINGS OF YOUR PASTOR* (III)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but *received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus."* (Galatians 4:14)
_Bible Insight:_
Your Pastor is one of the important gifts God gave you. If you didn't need one He won't bother giving you one. There is a way to receive the gift of a Pastor that the Lord gave us.Â
Paul brought the Gospel to the Galatians. The Gospel benefitted them so much. The man God used to bring the Gospel to them is reporting how they received him.Â
He said they received him as an angel (messenger) of God but more than that as though he was Jesus Himself. They didn't take Paul for Jesus Christ. They only received him as a direct messenger of Christ.Â
There were cogent reasons for them to reject Paul but they never considered it. They focused on what God put in him for them, not the negatives about him.Â
You may likely have some reasons not to receive the message, instructions or teachings your Pastor brings to you but you have to fight it. *Satan will continually try to pull you out from the place God placed you to learn and grow. Don't fall for his traps.*
Even Jesus Christ, people had reasons not to receive him. So it's not new when people pile up reasons not to receive their Pastor.Â
The Galatians are a great example of how to receive your Pastor. Their eyes were on the message he brought them, not his physical or financial looks.
They were even willing at some point to pluck out their eyes to give to their Pastor, Paul. This is huge. They were willing to go the extra mile to honour him who God sent to them.Â
It's clear to see the results they enjoyed for receiving their Pastor appropriately. They were converted, they received the Holy Spirit, they saw miracles (Gal 3:1-5). Rightly receiving your Pastor is to your advantage.Â
Jesus was determined to bless his hometown but he couldn't because they wouldn't receive his message. He was willing to be a blessing to them but he couldn't.Â
Some people may criticize receiving a Pastor like the Galatians and others did but that's the order and protocol the Lord has established in His Church. It is also the onus of the Pastor to present himself honorable so as to be honored accordingly.Â
_MEDITATION:_
*"Rightly receiving your Pastor must be continual for you to keep enjoying what you benefited from the man. The day you begin to despise and dishonor him, you'll begin to lose all you gained from God through him."*

*DAILY DEW 12/FEBRUARY/2023*
*RECEIVING THE TEACHINGS OF YOUR PASTOR* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us!"* (2 Timothy 1:13-14)
_Bible Insight:_
The teachings and instructions coming from the pulpit of your local Church are sacred. They are to be received, treated and handled as such.
They're the words of God and should be regarded as such. Anything less than this will remove the efficacy of it in our lives.Â
The Apostle instructed Timothy to regard the words he spoke to him as sacred.Â
Timothy was told by his Pastor (Paul) that all the words he heard from him must be received and held on to. He was to take deliberate steps to keep what he received.Â
These words are slippery and can slip away after we have received them. So just receiving is not enough. Purposeful actions must be taken to keep what was received.Â
If these words are mere words or common words will such an instruction be given? Never trivialize what you're been taught.Â
The teachings of your Pastor are a trust committed to you. You’re to hold fast to it. Keep them by the help of the Holy Spirit.Â
It's so vital and important that you'll need the Holy Spirit to help you keep them well. You only protect treasures. If we're been told to protect the teachings of our man of God, it means those words are treasures.Â
Satan wants to steal it. You must not allow him. Hold fast to them and keep them jealously. You remember the parable of the sower in Matt 13:18-23?
The first step to holding fast these sound words is by listening attentively while teaching and instruction is going on. You can't hold fast or keep something you don't know about because you didn't hear about it.Â
The second step is to trap it by writing it down. Make good comprehensive notes in Church. You can't hold fast to something you can't lay hold of.
Then keep your notes well. Don't throw them around as though they're just Chemistry or Biology notes. The way you treat your Church notebook tells me how much you value God's word.Â
Church Is a school where we learn about Christ. Take this school seriously because it affects your eternity.
If the apostles didn't hold fast and kept the teachings of their Pastor (Jesus), we wouldn't have anything to base our faith on today.Â
The next generation will suffer if we fail to hold fast what we are receiving today (2Tim.2:2).
_MEDITATION:_
*"Paul describes the teachings of your Pastor as sound words and good things. Is that how you see your Pastor's words?"*

*DAILY DEW 4/FEBRUARY/2023*
*RECEIVING THE TEACHINGS OF YOUR PASTOR*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And now we look back on all this and thank God, an artesian well of thanks! When you got the Message of God we preached, you didn't pass it off as just one more human opinion, but you took it to heart as God's true word to you, which it is, God himself at work in you believers!"* (1 Thessalonians 2:13 (The Message))
_Bible Insight:_
You're being Pastored by words. These words are precious and divine. These words can become a blessing to you on earth or a curse. These words will justify or condemn you on the last day.
God put words in your Pastor to make your life with it. It's to your advantage if you know how to receive those words.
See how the Thessalonian Christians received the words of their Pastor:
1 Thessalonians 2:13
[13]For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, *when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God,* which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
These Christians knew that the words from their Pastor was God's word, not his. That is the first thing you need to know and do if you'll maximally benefit from the teachings and instructions of your Pastor.
Don't wait for your Pastor to say, "thus say the Lord" before you take it seriously. It's not how he says it, it's how you received the words that matters.
Your Pastor is standing in for God. He is pastoring you on behalf of the chief shepherd - Jesus Christ (1Pet. 5:4). Disdaining or commonising his words is directly insulting Jesus (Matt. 10:40).
Because this set of Christians took their Pastors words just like they would if God was to appear physically and talk to them, we're told the word worked effectually in them.
Jesus had 12 close disciples. They all listened to Him but they received the words and teachings differently. Judas ended up as a thief and the others as great Apostles (Acts 4:13).
They attended the same Church with the same Pastor but ended differently. *It's not how the Pastor is teaching, it is how you're receiving what is being taught.*
You cannot be blessed by a Church and Pastor whose teachings you don't revere. This is why some in Church are stagnant and are becoming frustrated while many others are enjoying quantum growth and increase.
Learn something from the Thessalonian Christians today and see your progress become tangible.
_MEDITATION:_
*"You won't gain anything resisting the words of your Pastor like Joanne's and Jambres (2Tim 3:8), Alexander the coppersmith (2Tim 4:15). Don't be an Elymas (Acts 13:8) instead be a Thessalonian.*
