PRACTICAL STEPS TO HAVING DOMINION OVER SIN Beloved, God promises that you can trust Him during times of testing and temptation. Sin has no power over you, rather you have dominion over sin because of the Grace made available by Jesus when He died to redeem us. By receiving God’s goodness and grace, you can win the crown of eternal life and have dominion over sin. Sin brings bondage and death but when you have dominion over it, you enjoy freedom, joy, and exemption from condemnation. As soon as you begin to dominate Satan I dentity N umber (SIN), you will become a high flyer in life. How then can you have dominion over sin as a child of God? Take advantage of the grace made available for you. Take these practical steps; first, confess your sins, repent and pray for forgiveness and strength to overcome. Next, take a moment to reflect on these questions: “which addiction to sin do I need to remove from my life? Which aspect of worldliness am I living in which have to leave?” After answering these questions, you apply the word of God in James 1:21 which says, “Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the en-grafted word, which is to save your souls.” Next; always create an atmosphere of the presence of God so the Holy Spirit can help you. When you fellowship with the Holy Spirit regularly, sin will not find room to enter. God’s everlasting mercy can break every chain of alcoholism, bitterness, lust, drugs, pride, and so on. Do not be afraid of what the outcome of leaving sin will bring you. For example; you may be stealing from your office and you think if you stop, you won’t be able to pay your bills anymore, or if you stop hard drugs, you may die; or if you stop fornication, you may lose that person you love. These are the thoughts of the enemy. Change your thinking and focus on the blessings of God for righteous living, and Grace will continue to abide with you. You may not overcome it once but be determined to keep making effort. Cry to the Holy Spirit for help.
